Description

Note: Please note that this module is currently under SkillsFuture approval process.  Final pricing is subjected to change..

This module is the updated Version 2.0 of Enhancing Coaching Capabilities through Reflective Practice and Mentor Coaching and is aligned with the 2027 ICF enhanced mentor coaching requirements.

From January 2027, all ICF Level 1 programmes will no longer require a final performance evaluation for Level 1 certification. Instead, the ICF has introduced an Enhanced Mentor Coaching process to support learners' development through reflective practice and structured feedback.

This enhanced mentor coaching will be delivered by mentor coaches who have completed rigorous training and hold the new Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS) credential. As a result, the assessment approach shifts from a single, high-stakes performance evaluation to a formative evaluation model approved by the ICF.  More details of the structure will be provided in the CPLC programme.

A recent global study conducted by International Coaching Federation (ICF) shows that the number of leaders using coaching skills has increased significantly.  Coaching has helped these leaders empower and develop their team capabilities.  Leadership coaching has benefited employees from both a personal and professional development aspect as well as impact the organisation’s bottom line.

As more leaders start to employ the coaching skills, there is a growing need to enhance the coaching capabilities of these leaders to coach complex situations and difficult employees.  Importantly, the leaders need to transform their coaching experience into practical insights for personal growth and impact.  This will involve reflective practice and mentor coaching i.e., gathering feedback from peers, supervisors and mentor coaches.

ICF Level 1 Mentor CoachingReflective practice is the ability to reflect on one’s actions and practices to engage in a process of continuous learning.  Mentor Coaching consists of feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued manner based on an observed coaching session to enhance the leader’s capability in coaching, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.  As part of the Certified Performance Leadership Coach (CPLC) certification program, this module supports learners in achieving and demonstrating the level of coaching competency and capability required of an ICF Level 1 certified coach. The CPLC certification is accredited by International Coaching Federation (ICF) under the ACC Level 1 pathway, for those pursuing the ICF ACC (Associate Certified Coach) credential.

This course will also address some of the ethical dilemmas leaders face when coaching certain conflicting and sensitive situation, to help maintain the professionalism of a leadership coach.

This is a blended learning course which consist of:

  • Pre-course self-paced eLearning session,
  • Enhanced mentor coaching including one-on-one mentor coaching sessions
  • 2 days facilitated classroom session, group mentor coaching and assessment

Participants are expected to apply and demonstrate the ICF Core Competencies.  Through the feedback from the mentor coach on their coaching practicum and/or observed sessions, learners will increase their capability in applying their coaching competencies.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

The objective of this course is to enhance learner's coaching competency and capability through reflective practice and mentor coaching. The various ICF core competencies learned in each of the previous 3 modules of the CPLC program will be consolidated, enabling learners to coach holistically.  The ultimate goal is to enhance learners coaching capabilities to handle challenging situations and to acquire strategies to improve their leadership coaching skills.

This is the final Module 4 of the 4-part series leading to the Certified Performance Leadership Coach (CPLC) certification, an ICF accredited Level 1 coaching program.  Participants are required to complete the enhanced mentor coaching sessions to receive the Certified Performance Leadership Coach (CPLC) Level 1 certificate.
